All you have to do is drink beer! Each week we will have a different non-profit organization on site. They will receive 10% of our nightly sales and any cash donations collected in the tote bags at the end of the bar.

”The Atlanta Community ToolBank Tool Lending Program shares its resources with charitable groups so they can equip volunteers to efficiently complete work in less time with the right tools at a minimal cost.

By using ToolBank tools, nonprofits avoid the expense of purchasing, repairing, and storing tools.  For example,  an organization can spend $100 at the ToolBank in tool handling fees and equip 50 volunteers or purchase a few tools for around 4100 for a few volunteers to use on a project.

Member agencies also pay nominal handling fees to borrow tools based on a percentage or their retail cost.  For example, the one week handling fee for a 16-foot ladder, which typically sells for around $99, would be $2.97 (3% of retail cost), significantly less than the $31 per day a rental company would charge for that same ladder.  Tool handling fees help encourage the return of tools and are kept as low as possible to enable members to use the tools often.

As of early 2016,  the Atlanta Community ToolBank has 234 different types of tools and almost 45,000 individual tools in inventory.  With this number of tools your local ToolBank can help member agencies equip projects ranging from a few volunteers to thousands of volunteers.”

Totes Tuesday with The Nest & Lost-N-Found Youth

You drink beer. We give back!

All you have to do is drink beer! Each week we will have a different non-profit organization on site. They will receive 10% of our nightly sales and any cash donations collected in the tote bags at the end of the bar.

This week is sponsored by The Nest Atlanta. They have chosen Lost-N-Found Youth to work with and will be hanging out to provide guests with a free beer, while supplies last.

“Lost-n-Found Youth is the outgrowth of Saint Lost and Found, an LGBTQ homeless youth fund project of the Atlanta Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.

Founded by Rick Westbrook, Art Izzard, and Paul Swicord after each of them experienced being turned away when attempting to place queer youth into local shelters and youth aid programs, the three resolved that something needed to be done to address the immediate need.

They called a public town hall meeting and invited these local homeless youth support agencies to express outrage and determine what resources existed. The meeting made clear that no organization was specifically actively working to take LGBTQ homeless youth off the street. Rick, Art, Paul and others assembled in November 2011 with the support of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to establish a privately funded emergency shelter, and the Saint Lost and Found project (now Lost-n-Found Youth, Inc.) was born.”

Today, UCP serves over 500 individuals and families daily, offering customized supports designed to enable individuals to maximize their potential, and discover talents and skills to achieve personal goals.

Our guiding philosophy is to promote the physical and emotional well-being of the people we serve; to encourage them to explore their aspirations and dreams, and support their life choices; to help them become fully participating and valued members of their communities; and to offer them ongoing support as they continue a lifelong journey of personal development and growth.”
